Pipeline Overview

How a message moves through the multi-layered security pipeline.

Multi-layered inspection

Every inbound message passes through a sequence of independent inspection layers. Each layer can quarantine, reject, tag, or pass a message forward, and every decision is logged for later review.

Layers in order

  1. Connection and reputation filtering.
  2. Authentication verification.
  3. Content and attachment scanning.
  4. Behavioral and heuristic analysis.
  5. Policy enforcement and routing.

Outbound protection

Outbound messages pass through authentication signing and outbound reputation checks before leaving the gateway, protecting your domain from being used for spoofing or abuse.

Fail-safe design

If a downstream layer is unavailable, the pipeline degrades to the last known safe policy rather than blocking mail flow entirely, ensuring continuity of delivery.
