Quick Start
Connect your first domain to Mailerprotect in a few steps.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- Administrative access to your domain DNS records.
- Access to your existing mail server configuration.
- A Mailerprotect account with at least one available domain slot.
Step 1: Add your domain
Add the domain you want to protect from the dashboard. Mailerprotect generates a dedicated inbound route for the domain.
Step 2: Update your MX records
Point your domain MX records to the assigned data center endpoint, for example eu.mailerprotect.net. Propagation usually completes within a few hours.
Step 3: Configure outbound relay
Set your mail server to relay outgoing messages through the EU Mailerprotect endpoint so that authentication headers and reputation checks are applied consistently.
Use the following relay settings:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Host | eu.mailerprotect.net |
| Port | 25 or 587 |
Use port 587 when your mail server requires authenticated submission. Use port 25 for server-to-server SMTP delivery when supported by your mail infrastructure.
Step 3.1: Add the Mailerprotect SPF include
Add the Mailerprotect SPF include to the existing SPF TXT record for your domain.
- Open the DNS management panel for your domain.
- Find the existing TXT record whose value starts with
v=spf1. - Add
include:_spf.eu.mailerprotect.netto that same SPF record. - Keep any other legitimate SPF mechanisms already used by your mail providers.
- Save the record and make sure your domain has only one SPF TXT record.
For example:
| Type | Name | Value |
|---|---|---|
| TXT | @ | v=spf1 include:_spf.eu.mailerprotect.net ... ~all |
Keep your domain's existing SPF entries in place where they are still required. Do not publish a second separate v=spf1 record, because receiving mail servers may treat multiple SPF records as invalid.
Step 3.2: Add the DKIM CNAME record
Create a CNAME record for the default DKIM selector so Mailerprotect can publish the signing key for your domain.
- In the DNS management panel, create a new CNAME record.
- Set the record name to
default._domainkey. - Set the target to
default._domainkey.eu.mailerprotect.net. - Save the record and remove any conflicting record with the same name.
Use these values:
| Type | Name | Target |
|---|---|---|
| CNAME | default._domainkey | default._domainkey.eu.mailerprotect.net |
If your DNS provider automatically appends the domain name, enter only default._domainkey in the name field. If it requires a fully qualified name, use default._domainkey.your-domain.example.
Allow time for DNS changes to propagate before continuing to verification.
Step 4: Verify delivery
Send a test message from an external mailbox and confirm it arrives with the Mailerprotect processing headers attached. Send a test message outbound and confirm authentication passes at the receiving end.
Step 5: Monitor the pipeline
Use the dashboard to review filtering statistics, quarantine activity, and delivery status for both inbound and outbound traffic.
